Meet Holly, our new District Youth Lead

We’re super delighted to say that Matt, our District Lead Volunteer, as appointed a new Youth Lead for Blackpool Scouts, Holly Brookfield. Matt said “Holly is full of enthusiasm and has some fantastic ideas on how she will ensure that all we do across Blackpool is shaped by our young people in partnership with adults. Putting the voices of our young people front and centre”.

“Joining Holly as a member of her team is Jake Robinson who is currently a team member at the 45th Blackpool. I’m sure that together they will work well to ensure that our aims are achieved. I must also pass on my sincere thanks on behalf of the District to Gabby Howson-Tax who has been in the role for the last 5 years. Gabby has been an amazing ambassador for the young people of our District, and we are all very grateful for all that she has done. She doesn’t get to escape though as you all know she is the Programme Team Leader for Squirrels so plenty to keep her busy! I trust you will all join me in congratulating Holly on her appointment and wish her and Jake well as they move forward”.

Meet Holly

Hi, I’m Holly, a team member in both the Cub and Explorer sections, and now your District Youth Lead. When I’m not Scouting, I can be found in museums, or doing arts and crafts, two interests I always transfer into Scouting programmes. I’ve been Scouting since I was 11, and I’ve loved every minute. I’ve always thought of Scouts as a place to feel welcome, to display my strengths and interests, and to challenge myself by learning new skills.

I’m excited for the role of District Youth Lead because I believe there is much work to be done to improve the lives of young people in Blackpool District, especially in regards to social equality and young person retention in the 14-25 provision. As someone who currently volunteers with multiple sections, I think I will be good at communicating with young people of all ages in the District, and really pushing for their voices, and ideas, to be heard.

I also pride myself in being open and helpful, so I aim to hear the opinions of not just young people, but leaders too, so feel free to contact me by email, or speak to me at the All Members Meetings. I look forward to all that I can do in this role.
