A Cub Scout celebration – 105 years in the making

80 Cub Scouts from across Blackpool got together to celebrate 105 years of Cubs.

In fact, Cub Scouts actually celebrated 105 years in 2021 but due to the pandemic, we had to put on hold all that the amazing team of volunteers had planned.

Throughout this year all our Cub Scouts have been completing various challenges full of adventure, creativity and fun. Each challenge, worth points, were linked to the personality of various characters from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.

Sophie Hornby, part of the Blackpool Cub team, said “it’s been fantastic to see all our Cubs giving the challenges a go and getting stuck in. They’ve really enjoyed it and the leaders have too. The best way to bring it all together was to throw a party to say Happy Birthday to Cub Scouts and celebrate the hard work of the young people throughout the year.”

We wanted to know what our Cubs thought about this year and the challenges they were set, they said they really enjoyed, camping, kayaking, litter picking in the local community, pioneering, visits from our Youth Commissioner, making galaxy jars.

Happy Birthday Cub Scouts! Here’s to many more years! Why not get stuck in yourself?
