Sue’s Run for Scouts!

Run with Scouts, cheer for Scouts, donate to Scouts.

The Scout Association has a wonderful team of runners taking part in the face-to-face London Marathon and the Virtual London Marathon on Sunday 3 October 2021. These amazing people will be busy training, stretching and (most importantly) fundraising.

Scouts gives young people opportunities. To make the decisions. To try new things. To make new friends. To travel. To explore. To have fun. To discover who they are. To be themselves. To learn #SkillsForLife. And that’s just the beginning…

Sue Walker, from 51st Blackpool Scouts is getting stuck in and raising money to support Scouts across the UK!

“I’m running The Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon 2021, to raise money for The Scout Association. My family has been in Scouting going back to the late 1940’s when my dad & uncle joined as young boys. Both my mum and dad were leaders in groups here in Blackpool, Lancashire. This has continued with both my brother and I being leaders and our children having gone through the sections in Scouting. Since the first lockdown in March 2020 due to Covid-19, scouting as we know it has changed so much. Weekly meetings, having fun with our friends and completing badge work has now gone online.”

Zoom Meetings are now the norm, although we have met online, leaders and children alike have taken on the challenge of trying to have fun, complete badge work and also take on new fun challenges, like camping at home, making dens and sleeping in them nights on end, to earn our Nights Away award badges. Cooking mug cakes, armpit fudge, getting out into nature and being safe whilst we do what we love.

All donations made to this page will go straight to The Scout Association to help deliver Scouting to all young people across the UK.

Your donations will help countless Scouts across the UK fulfil their potential, develop skills for life and ensure those that our on our waiting lists have the opportunity to join.

A donation could help to fund important training to volunteers, provide disadvantaged communities with vital grants, or help the 40,000 young people on our waiting lists experience adventure.
