Scouting about the Lights

Blackpool Scouts visiting a true tradition of the town, the Blackpool Illuminations.

Creating magical memories with their spectacular displays, the Blackpool Illuminations have been a staple of any visit to Blackpool for over 140 years. Blackpool Scouts have made this part of their annual traditions to give their young people and volunteers memories to last a lifetime as they take a trip down the lights!

Whether it be by foot, car, tram or even cycle, their members have enjoyed the sightseeing around the Illuminations. Darrell Shuck, a volunteer from Blackpool Scouts said ‘it’s important we give our young people the opportunity to experience what’s on their doorstep. I was amazed to hear that a few of our young people had never seen the lights before we took them on the trip!’.

One Group, 1st Staining Scouts, had a trip on the famous Blackpool Heritage Tram. A chance for all to experience the history of our town and support the local community. 1st Bispham Scout Group always finish with a bag of chips after a walk down the lights, spotting their favourites, making it a real tradition they’ve done for years.

Have you visited the illuminations yet? Why not head on down and experience the world-famous Blackpool Illuminations, they’re on until the 3rd January 2022.
