Reuben & Jonny’s Virtual Three Peaks

Reuben & Jonny's Virtual Three Peaks

Reuben and Jonny, two Explorer Scouts from West Lancashire Scouts are running and walking a virtual three peaks challenge. Their route is 55.14 Km and covers approx. 1,500m of ascent and they’re carrying their own equipment, technically classed as an Ultra-Marathon!

Both Explorers are doing this because this summer they were meant to be taking part in the three peaks this summer for charity, but due to Covid-19 this was cancelled. They’re doing this for Trinity Hospice as they cared for Reuben’s Dad at the end of his life and since then have given him first-class counselling to help Reuben get through it. He said “they made one of the most painful periods of my life, a little bit easier. They’re a fantastic chairty who do so much for our community and have even taken on Covid patients. However due to the pandemic they’ve not been able to raise funds how they normally would and we want to help keep their doors open”.

They have mapped out the route themselves: starting at Parlick Fell (near Chipping and Beacon Fell) and then going through Beacon Fell, Bilsborough, Poulton, and then finally finishing at the Blackpool Tower. "Scouting has given us the confidence and skills to do this and it’s something that we wanted to share with our district and try and get a bit more support for this amazing charity."
