What a fantastic year to be Cub Scout…. Cubs celebrate their 100th Birthday this year and there has been no end of events and celebrations to mark the occasion.

Blackpool Cubs have been no exception to this and have recently been to the World Famous Blackpool Tower for a sleepover!

Check out what they got up to at the Tower here!

We have been celebrating the 100th year of Cubs with a variety of exciting events and a busy programme.  In February on a rainy Sunday, 250 Cubs from Blackpool joined other Packs at Blackpool Pleasure Beach to celebrate with a 100th Birthday Party and take part in a World Record which was successful as there were over 7000 Cubs and Leaders present.

The Jack Lamb ‘Scouting Skills’ competition is now in its 4th year and took place at Mowbreck Scout Training Campsite with 1st Norbreck being the eventual winners.  In July, the Commissioners Flag was held and 1st Norbreck were winners.  In March we held our Chess Competition which was won by Jake Robinson of 45th Blackpool and the Knockout competition was won by Ethan Rowley-Terry of 1st Norbreck.

In September, 82 of our young people and adults visited London for a weekend of sightseeing and culture that included visits to Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, the London Eye.  The highlight of our trip was being invited to 10 Downing Street by the Prime Minister’s office. In September many of our Cubs went to the Wet, Dry and Adventure day at Waddecar.  In October, we held a Sixers and Seconders day which was well attended.  In November we went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, where cubs and Leaders had a very enjoyable day

There are other events planned this year and a Birthday party and Promise renewal on the 16th December.
